Burnamwood Camp and Conference Center
Camp Burnamwood is our Presbytery Camp and Conference Center
located in the mountains of Irvine, Kentucky. Burnamwood is a place where
many of our young people feel close to God and where their spiritual
journeys begin. Some of our high school students attend camp each summer
and are moved by what they experience during their week together.
Some of our recent campers share with us what Burnamwood means to them:
"I think that Burnamwood is a wonderful place to meet new people and
grow closer to God. Many wonderful people are there to help you feel
good, and everyone is so inviting that complete strangers can become
good friends in just one week. Burnamwood is a great place to be with
God and with friends and to have lots of fun at the same time."
Richard Hunt
"Burnamwood is a place where you can feel God calling you, and where
you know that he is always there for you. When you walk upon the dam,
and look out across the water and see the cross, with the swirling
morning mist before it... that is God. When you see your friends all
laughing together, no one being left out... that is God... When you cry
on the last night for fear that you may never see some of the seniors
again, and yet the joy and happiness that they share about being at camp
over the years makes you cry even harder... that is God. I feel like I
am at home when I am at Burnamwood. You have a connection with the
people at camp that is like no other. I can try my hardest to explain
it, but it’s impossible to describe exactly what you go through
spiritually. Burnamwood gives me a feeling of peace and calmness, a
sense that God is always there no matter what. Burnamwood has changed my
life immensely. Each time I go to camp, I have a moment where God
changes my life, I have a moment where I feel like it’s just the two of
us. Both of us, sitting side by side, looking at this beautiful place
that he created for us, for all of us." Anne Evans
"Burnamwood is the best place in the world! Burnamwood is my home
away from home. I have so many friends there and everyone accepts you
for who you are. Everyone always gets along and we’re all one big happy
family. This summer at camp, I learned that there is always hope even
when things are going really bad. I learned about team work, servant
hood, and the obstacles of life. One of my favorite parts of Burnamwood
is the worship services we have each night. On the night my small group
did worship we washed everyone’s feet. It was really moving for me to
get to wash others feet like Jesus washed his disciples feet. I love
Burnamwood!" Caroline Caudill
"When I enter Burnamwood, I feel a sense of peace and all the worries
that I had or have are lost. I know that everyone will accept me just as
I am, and meeting so many new people proves that. At worship and closing
circle, when you see everyone, everyone at camp, counselors and youth,
all holding hands, you know that this is the right place, this is the
most perfect place you could ever be at that moment in time. It’s so
wonderful, feeling the unity and the strong friendships with them all.
And when we look up at the stars at night, just seeing all the familiar
faces, and all the wonderful things in nature, you just know that you
have truly been blessed by God in this wonderful place. I really hope
that everyone who has the opportunity will seize it and that you will
have the privilege to go and experience Burnamwood because I can
guarantee that you will fall in love with it and never want to leave."
