A New Third Service on Sunday mornings started in September. It meets from 9:45 - 10:30 a.m., offering another point of involvement in the life or our congregation. It is a more informal worship in a shorter 45-minute format. The 11:00 a.m. service is nearing its comfortable capacity. We hope the new service will increase our overall worship attendance as well as attract new people to our church.

William J. Carl, III Second's annual Pace-Warren Lecture Series featured the Rev. Dr. William J. Carl, III on Sunday and Monday, October 11-12.  Dr. Carl is President of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Professor of Homiletics. On Sunday, he delivered the sermon, spoke at Forum, and spoke at an evening service. On Monday morning, he discussed "Brains, Bodies, Beliefs and Behavior."

2010 Lenten Bible Study
On Wednesday nights during Lent, we will begin a small group study of Rev. Bill Carl's book The Lord's Prayer for Today. We are gathering the names of those who want to participate in the study as well as members who want to host the study in their homes. Small groups will also be able to gather in the church if a home study will not work.
The schedule for the study is as follows:

  • Participants will gather for a simple supper and an Ash Wednesday service on February 17.
  • February 24 will mark the beginning of the study.
  • The study will conclude on March 24.
  • On April 1, members will be encouraged to gather together for a simple supper and evaluation of their experience.

Please do consider joining this church activity. It may be the devotional experience that you need this coming Lent. Contact Diane Banasiak (254-7768) if you have any questions.
