Connect with Other Disciples

We have all kinds of groups at Second for you to get involved in!

Prayer Shawl Group

Whether someone in the congregation is ailing, grieving, or celebrating, from life’s beginning to its end, Second’s shawl makers offer a touching expression of care and love. They also make lap robes, baby blankets and hats for community agencies to provide to the people they serve. They meet via Zoom every third afternoon to enjoy fellowship, inspire creativity, and foster the growth that comes from the shared spiritual practice of this ministry.

Saturday Morning Women's

Book Discussion Group

Saturday mornings at 9:00 am, join with other women for enrichment and connection through discussing books of interest related to Christianity in the world and personal life. Although the group often reads works by women authors, it does not do so exclusively. Participants choose books covering a broad range of interests and opinions.

Men's Breakfast

The Men’s Book Study group has been meeting weekly for over 25 years. The format is an open discussion of a book, including theological scholars, historians and other authorities on religious topics and experiences. Past selections have included reviews of different religious traditions, including Judaism, Islam and Buddhism, traditional and progressive authors and a variety of other topics. We enjoy challenging and thought-provoking books that lead to growth and a better understanding of our personal journey of faith and that of others that may follow a different faith pathway. Open forum discussion is welcome and we provide everyone with respect for and appreciation of differences and commonalities. We meet virtually via Zoom Wednesday morning each week at 6:30-7:30 AM. Contact Shawn Caudill for more information or to join us at 859 608-6662 or tscaud1@uky.edu

Chamber Chorale

The Lexington Chamber Chorale brings a rich and unique choral repertoire to Central Kentucky audiences. Since its humble beginning as the Sine Nomine Singers, the Chorale has enjoyed celebrating the art of choral singing through performing interesting and challenging pieces of music. Chamber Chorale concerts also enrich our cultural community through creative collaborations with guest artists and musicians. The passion for singing and the continued pursuit of musical excellence inspire the singers to present quality programs that touch both mind and spirit.

Coordinator for distribution. You can schedule a week to participate as a family, with friends, or join in with an ongoing group. Other than your time, no cost is involved.
