Annual Youth Ministry Events
Chili Cook-Off
Chili Cook-off is one of our annual fundraisers for our youth summer conference and mission trips! Members are invited to bring their homemade chili to enter in one of several categories that the youth choose. Winners receive a trophy and bragging rights for the next year!
The Youth Chili Cook-off is a part of our Community Life Trunk or Treat event for children and families. Families could purchase a bowl and spoon to try out the different chilis and vote for the
Best Chili at Second with their dollars. Youth judges then taste and choose the other 4 winning categories.

Youth Sunday
Our youth are an important part of our congregation and participate in worship year-round. We love when our children or youth read the scripture, play special music, or are part of our usher team. But Youth Sunday is a special Sunday when our 6th through 12th graders put together and lead ALL the parts of the worship service! The youth work together at Youth Fellowship and Wednesday evening gatherings to choose the hymns and choose or write all the parts of the service including prayers, invitations, and responsive readings. Our seniors offer our message of the day in their Senior Reflections.
Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Easter Egg Hunt is a fun way for the youth to provide a little fun for the children of Second to celebrate Easter! This year the youth will be stuffing eggs with treats and stickers and then hiding them for children to find in-between our two Easter services. We will have 3 age groups for finding eggs: up to age 3, ages 4-7, and ages 8-11. We invite all children coming to either worship service that morning to plan to bring their Easter baskets and join us for the Easter Egg Hunt!
Summer Camps & Mission
In the summer youth go to summer camps and conferences and do mission projects to grow in faith and give back to our community. Youth and parents are invited to join us on Sunday, October 20th at 5:30 PM as we look together at our options for Summer 2025 youth trips!
